The last two weeks have been such a busy time. Vienna is an awesome city! (I never thought I'd say that about any city in the world!) And finally I have my husband back and spring is here, no, even summer, and there was so much to catch up with after returning homw from just one week vacation!

But today, finally, I got some time to breathe - to draw - again!

It's Earth Day today!

Shame on me, I just found out because of the nice Google logo's adaptation ...

Well, there's so many special days around the year, I usually tend to ignore them all. But being quite concerned about the ecological and economical developments these days I thought I could at least post a journal on the occasion.

So, what do you think about this: Put down some kind of environmental balance sheet of yourself and help spread the idea of trying to find a way of life that is better compatible with sustaining our planet and it's resources for all living and unborn people.

I sold my car as soon as I had a train station within ten minutes of walking range from my flat and I try to convince others to use public transport as often as possible.

I recycle as much as possible and am especially careful to bring old batteries, medicine, low-energy light bulbs and such things to the right places.

I always turn off electronics when they are not needed for the next *insert a reasonable period of time* and don't just let them hang on in stand-by mode.

I have not yet complained that my landlord turned off the heater for summer a few days ago, even though I'd like to have a warmer bathroom sometimes...

I don't earn a lot of money but I try to buy ecologically produced and/or fair trade food and products as often as I can.

I tried to become vegetarian once but failed miserably.

I often catch myself wasting energy (worth one hour of a burning 11W light bulb) letting Google search a website for me just because I'm too lazy to type the complete adress myself.

I am going to Vienna by plane instead of by train next week. I do this because the train ticket was more expensive, which I think is a huge fault in the traffic system probably caused by the plane fuel's tax exemption. Such non-ecological exemptions really should be cancelled, not just in Germany and the EU but everywhere! However, I still did not have the strength of will to decide for a 12 hour and more expensive train ride instead of the flight that's more harmful to the environment.


So, that's my current balance. How about yours?
